I was able to simply plug it into my Mac laptop and it worked. I did not have to reconfigure the drive for the North American DVD standard or download any extra software drivers. In addition, I like the fact that the drive came with a nice neoprene carrying case so that I can easily bring the drive with me when traveling. Yes, I would recommend this unit.
