So I recently built a new PC and it seems that now days there is not a lot of case options that include slots for DVD drives. I use my PC to store my movie, video, music and picture libraries for access around the house through applications such as Plex. In order to add additional DVDs, I had to purchase an external drive. Plus I wanted to be able to burn some videos to DVD for use in the car when on trips. This external drive from Gotega (note that there is a logo on the actual drive but in the amazon listing there isn't) fits my needs and does not take up a lot of space. I have played videos on it and have burned a DVD already and it seems to work as advertised. That being said, you will need to buy or download free software to do much of anything with it as most software does not come with your computer any more. Crazy that I spent more on software than on the drive. The drive seems to be very quiet compared to my internal drives of the past. As of today I have not needed to transport it anywhere but my laptop does not have a DVD drive either so should I need to go on a trip this drive is small and could be easily taken along. Plus there is a groove in the bottom that would allow it to be easily tucked away for transport. All in all this drive is well worth the money.
